cherry blossoms, craft, pen pals, postcard, postcard swap, sewing, The Great Big Stitched Postcard Swap
About this time last year, I bought recycled paper and embroidery cotton and glue and made this (above!) postcard inspired by the cherry blossoms bursting into flower all over my city. Not bad, I thought, for someone who has no idea of sewing and who tends to get glue stuck in her hair.
Then I sent it all the way to the UK to someone I’ve never met, while I reminisced of the pen pals I had as a little person in Girl Scouts. And, just for a while, collecting my post was fun again.
I’m going to make another this year (I have it planned in my head already) and you can too if you like. There is still a week to join and all the details are linked to the button in the sidebar. [Update: the deadline has passed and so links and buttons have been taken down.]
Or, send me an email with your address and perhaps I’ll make one for you too.
(The clever Beth Nicolls is the inventress of the Great Big Stitched Postcard Swap)
